QMC Facilities Update

Dear QMC Patients,

QMC Facilities Update

Queenstown Medical Centre will be relocating its Arrowtown clinic to a larger, new purpose-built facility at Remarkables Park later this year.

QMC staff have diligently and professionally provided exceptional patient care from our Berkshire Street, Arrowtown practice for 12 years. We are proud of the lasting impact of this care and of the relationships formed between our staff and the Arrowtown community.

Over recent years, at the current location on Berkshire Street we have experienced increasing operational, functional and staffing challenges, as well as recurring feedback around parking and accessibility. It has become clear the clinic on Berkshire Street is no longer providing the optimal patient journey. As a result, it will close in mid-September at the same time the new, and larger, clinic at Remarkables Park opens - where all Arrowtown staff will be relocated to.

This decision was an extremely difficult one to make. QMC has deliberated, debated and researched alternative solutions. Despite these efforts, we have been unable to find a way to remain located in Arrowtown.

We acknowledge that there will be some QMC patients living in Arrowtown who have found the proximity of the Berkshire St clinic highly convenient. We know, too, that many of our Arrowtown patients like to drop by and communicate face-to-face when they are out in the town.

To our Arrowtown patients, we would like to reassure you that there will be no change at all to the standard of your care, the clinicians you see, or to the friendly and supportive front desk service. You will still be able to see your same trusted doctor, nurse practitioner or nurse at Remarkables Park (or Isle Street, if this becomes your preferred location). The larger space, ready mid-September, will have nine consulting rooms, lift access and modern facilities to enable us to provide the best-possible, timely patient care.

We look forward to welcoming all QMC patients to our modern, purpose-built clinic at Remarkables Park from mid-September. The clinic will provide QMC’s comprehensive healthcare services in an easily accessible, central location at Level 2, 12 Hawthorne Drive (next door to the existing Remarkables Park practice).

We will keep you informed about the relocation and look forward to showing you our brand-new Remarkables Park clinic later this year. Our Jacks Point and Isle Street practices will continue to operate as normal.

If you have any further questions, you may find the answers below in our FAQs.

Why are you closing the Arrowtown clinic?

The existing Arrowtown clinic on Berkshire Street has, over a period of time, posed multiple operational challenges and is no longer providing the optimal patient journey with parking difficulties and some safety concerns with its accessibility - particularly for those with mobility issues. Our new Remarkables Park clinic is larger, with more modern amenities, enabling us to provide a better patient experience with more of our clinicians in the one location.

Will I still be able to see my usual doctor?

Yes. You will still be able to see your trusted doctor at the Remarkables Park clinic.

Is there parking and is it accessible?

Parking is plentiful right outside the QMC Remarkables Park clinic. The upstairs clinic has a lift and is easily accessible for patients with mobility issues, and there is a bus stop right outside.

Will there be the same number of appointments available?

Yes. There is no change to the number of clinicians we have available at QMC. There will be nine consulting rooms at the new Remarkables Park clinic. Our patients will continue to enjoy high levels of availability with many of our patients able to book a GP appointment on the same day or within two days. This may not always be with your preferred provider, but QMC is proud to offer availability at short notice for those who need it.

What happens when I need a repeat prescription, can I just walk in?

Of course! We welcome patients to come and visit our friendly First Impressions Team (reception) team to order a script if their preferred method of communication is face-to-face. However, we find most patients like to renew prescriptions via the Manage My Health website or app (this is also the cheapest way of ordering). This is a great tool which allows patients to book appointments, order prescriptions and directly message their preferred clinician.

I don’t know how to use the Manage My Health platform. How can I learn?

Our friendly and supportive First Impressions Team (reception) can show patients how to use the app. If you live in Arrowtown, you are welcome to stop by at any point before the existing clinic closes, and our team will assist you.

What about Jack's Point and Isle Street?

There are no changes for either Jack's Point or our Isle Street practice (pre-booked appointments, specialised clinics and walk-in Urgent Care at Isle Street continue to operate as normal.)
