Healthcare and support for women at QMC
Women’s Health Services at Queenstown Medical Centre
At Queenstown Medical Centre, we pride ourselves on offering comprehensive and personalized healthcare services for women in a non-judgmental and caring environment. Our friendly and experienced team is here to support you through every stage of life, ensuring you feel welcomed and receive the best care possible. Here are some of the key women’s health services we offer and why they are essential for maintaining your health:
1. General Practice
Our general practice services include routine check-ups, health screenings, and management of chronic conditions. At QMC, we proactively reach out to our patients to remind them of important women’s health screenings, ensuring they stay on top of their health and well-being. This service allows for timely intervention and better health outcomes. In general practice we can also provide breastfeeding support and nutrition advice.
We offer confidential sexual health services, including screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contraceptive advice and sexual wellbeing support. Regular sexual health check-ups are crucial for early detection and treatment of STIs, which can prevent long-term health complications.
3. Reproductive Health
Whether you’re dealing with menstrual health, thinking about starting a family, or navigating pregnancy, our team is here to support you every step of the way. Our Contraceptive Clinic is also available for the insertion of birth control devices, as well as support with correct and professional advice to help you make the best informed choices.
4. Menopause Management
Navigating menopause can be a bit of a rollercoaster, but we’re here to help you manage the ride. Our menopause management services include advice and treatment options to help you handle symptoms and maintain your quality of life during this transition. We aim to make this stage of life as comfortable as possible.
5. Mental Health Support
We understand that mental health is a vital component of overall well-being. Our GPs can conduct initial assessments, provide medication management, and offer ongoing support. If needed, we can refer you to trusted mental health professionals for specialized care. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and we are here to help you find the resources you need. Because a happy mind means a happy life!
6. Cervical Screening
QMC has dedicated cervical screening clinics that are quicker and cheaper than a regular nurse appointment. Alternatively, book in with a nurse to get that important screening test ticked off your list. Self-swabbing is now available for most women.
7. Specialist Referrals
If you require specialized care, we can refer you to trusted specialists in areas such as gynecology, endocrinology, and oncology. Having access to specialist care ensures that you receive the most appropriate and effective treatment for your specific health needs. We’ve got your back, no matter what.
At QMC, your health is our priority. We are committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care with the goal of helping you achieve and maintain optimal health
